RVIA reports decrease in November shipments
(Jan. 21, 2008) -- Overall shipments are down 9.9 percent for November, with declining numbers in towables as well as motorhomes. Fifth wheels and type C motorhomes showed the only positive totals, with no change and an increase of 9.1 percent from November of last year, respectively.

RESTON, Va. -- Total RV shipments were down another 9.9 percent in November, according to figures released today by the RV Industry Association.

A total of 21,500 units were shipped in November, compared to 23,300 units in November 2006. For the year, 331,000 RVs have been shipped to dealers, down 7.1 percent from the 367,300 units shipped during this time last year.

Towables hold the largest decrease in shipments, down 11.3 percent from last year’s numbers.

All travel trailers shipments fell to 169,200 units compared to 192,400 units shipped in November 2006. Fifth wheels held steady with 5,500 units shipped, still down 8.6 percent from last year.

Folding campers and truck campers were also down from November 2006. Manufacturers shipped 27,100 folding campers, compared to 31,900 units. A decrease of 7.9 percent for the year, 7,000 truck campers were shipped, 600 short of last year’s units.

Type A motorhome shipments fell last month, with 1,900 units shipped to dealers. For the year, Type A motorhomes are still up 0.7 percent with 30,200 units delivered to dealers compared to 30,000 units in November 2006.

Type B motorhomes still held the most positive change with 200 new units shipped. For the year, 2,900 units have been shipped to dealers, a 7.4 percent increase over 2006's pace of 2,700 units.
