RESTON, Va. - Over the years, CBS Sunday Morning correspondent Bill Geist has been treating his audience to a taste of his offbeat humor on positive RV segments. Now he’s brought that humor to his new book, Way Off the Road.
Geist traveled around the country by RV filing stories that profiled people and places not usually covered by the media. In addition, he and his crew spent a week on the road with veteran RVer and Commissioner of Tailgating Joe Cahn. The resulting segment, which chronicles a week in the life of the ultimate tailgater, has aired multiple times on Sunday Morning. This seven-minute piece shows that RVing is a great way to travel, whether it’s to a football game or just to see what’s around the next bend.
Geist’s book is fun fare – perfect for light summer reading and a chuckle. Many questions you’ve probably never asked are answered, such as: Is there such an event as a motion-deprived parade? and Can you really vacuum up prairie dogs? Spoiler alert: The answer to both is: Yes.
Way Off the Road is available now at Amazon.com or from major retailers.
