MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- After decades of working seven days a week, Marlin Ingram decided a few years ago to slow down. He began to take Sundays off.

Now, having built Marlin Ingram RV Center into a business that had $17.8 million in gross sales in 2005, he's decided to call it a career for the other six days as well. He will sell his dealership at auction at 11 a.m. May 18, with J.P. King Auction Company handling the sale. The auction will be held at the RV center at 4504 Troy Highway, Montgomery.

"We paid the price to get here, but it's paid off in the long run. For 23 years, I've been selling RVs to people who want to retire and go see the country. Now I may just sell one to myself," said Ingram.

The property itself (approximately 4 acres) will be sold in four parcels - one with the sales office, storage building and service garage, one with another building, and two lots used for showing vehicles. Zoned B-2 and B-3, it has approximately 299 feet of frontage on Troy Highway and 395 acres of frontage on Provost Road.

Also selling will be Ingram's Allegro dealership line, subject to approval of Tiffin Motorhomes, which manufactures Allegro.

"Marlin Ingram is Allegro's fourth-largest dealer in the entire United States, so if someone is able to purchase the land, buildings and that dealership, they could do very well in this location," said Craig King, president of J.P. King.
